(24,000 kg) of diamonds in the world. The value of these diamonds are estimated to get as high as USD $8 billion. The cutting a of these
diamonds results in a great losses of carats every year. The estimates of the losses is calculated to be around 50%, meaning there are left
100 million carats to ship to the markets every year after deducting the weight of diamonds for industrial use. Yellow and brown are the
most common colors for diamonds, although they can be found in any color.
More than 50% of all the diamonds mined every year originates from the souther Africa. Other countries that contribute to the worlds
diamond production are Canada, India and Russia. One of the most active, biggest and successful diamond companies of all time is named De
Beers and resides in Antwerp. The company was founded in 1888. De Beers was once responsible for 80% of the worlds diamond trade and
today De Beers companies controls more than 40% of the diamond marked.

modern times are for electronic circuits, they can also be used as semiconductors for microchips and for numerous other industrial uses. For
this use there are produced about 100,000 kg of synthetic diamonds. Synthetic diamonds has been produced for 50 years and in the later
years the technology has been so good that synthetic diamonds are more and more sold as jewelry. And with the arise of the use of
synthetic diamonds in jewelry the price of jewelry has fallen to a level where more and more people can buy it.
